Lyle Delbert 'Dell' Hill, 73, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2007 in Boise, Idaho. Dell was born March 26, 1933 to Clarence and Myrtle Hill in Blackfoot, Idaho. He was raised and attended schools in Blackfoot before entering the Army and being sent to the Korean conflict. After his return home, he married the girl next door, Helen M. Hook on April 8, 1957. They would have celebrated 50 years together this year. They are parents to two children, Karen (Jerry North) and Kenneth (Ramona), and grandparents to ten. Dell served as a funeral home apprentice for the Sandberg Funeral Home as well as a fireman for the City of Blackfoot for a time before he began his career in long haul truck driving. He owned his own rig for a time and worked for some local trucking firms. Racking up three million miles, he was twice nominated “Driver of the Year.” He was also chosen as a driver during the 1984 Olympic Torch Relay. At retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spent many winters in Arizona. In September 2005, they moved to Meridian, Idaho. Dell was a loving and caring husband and a wonderful Dad. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Meridian, Idaho; his daughter, Karen North of Meridian, Idaho; his son, Ken Hill of Lewiston, Idaho; his grandchildren; his brother, C. Dean Hill and his sister, Irene Frasure both of Blackfoot, Idaho He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a granddaughter, and a son-in-law. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 9, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, 3629 E Ustick Road, Meridian, Idaho 83642 (208-898-0642). A viewing for family and friends will be held 1 hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Meridian Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel.
