Thomas L. Askins June 22, 1937-Nov. 14, 2010

Thomas L. Askins, 73 years, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Lambertville and Temperance, Mich., passed away Sun., Nov. 14, 2010 in Flower Hospital, Sylvania, Ohio.

The son of Merle and Jeanie (Krall) Askins, he was born June 22, 1937 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was a 1956 graduate of Whitmer High School.

Tom served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and after leaving the Navy, he helped his dad operate Merle's Sunoco on Secor Rd. in Lambertville, Mich.

Tom had also worked at City Auto Stamping as a supervisor, Acklin Stamping, Tillotson's, and was an expediter and trucker driver for Tri Hours Corp.

He is survived by wife Linda Askins; from his union with Marty Liszi-Askins came four lovely daughters, Tina (Jody) Askins, Jennifer (Matt) Malohn, Tomasine (Bret) Beard, Ann (Andrew) Clark; from the union of E.P. "Tootie" (Welch) Tucker he is also survived by adoptive son Stephen (Edith) Askins; grandchildren Nick Askins, Tony Askins, Emily (Mark) Kleeberger, Sara (Nick) Lindsey; four great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Cindy Coates, three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, Mich. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Temperance, where he will lie in state in the Narthex after 10 a.m. Burial will be in Weston Cemetery, Weston, Ohio.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
