Residing in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina at the time of enlistment. Enlisted on July 1, 1863 at Mecklenburg County, North Carolina as a Private in the 5th North Carolina Infantry, Company F. POW on September 22, 1863 at Madison Court House, Virginia. Confined on September 24, 1863 at Old Capitol Prison, Washington DC. Transferred on September 26, 1863 to Point Lookout, Maryland. Transferred on August 16, 1864 to Elmira, New York. Died of pneumonia as a POW.
