Catherine Mary Alber, 78, a resident of Riverview Terrace Nursing Home, Tomahawk, for the past year, died Wednesday, March 1, 1989, at the nursing home.

Mrs. Alber was born February 17, 1911, in Wausau to Thomas and Mary Barden Sullivan and was married to Virgil J. Alber on September 7, 1946 in Tomahawk. Her husband died February 27, 1984. She was an employee of the Gift Box and Tomahawk Drug Store for many years.

Mrs. Alber was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was a member of its choir for 20 years. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and reading.

Survivors include two sons, Vincent and James both of Tomahawk; a brother Lawrence (Sull) Sullivan of Tomahawk; a sister Rose Sherfinski, Muskegeon, Michigan; and two grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, March 4, in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Robert O'Connell officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.
