Visitation for Robert "Bob" Alsip, 52, of Kankakee, will be from 5-9 p.m. today at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Dan Boone will officiate. Burial will be on Friday in Lebanon National Cemetery, in Lebanon, KY. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Make a Wish Foundation. Mr. Alsip died Monday, June 21, 1999 at his home. He was born July 6, 1946, in Lebanon, KY., the son of Lincoln Ernest and Pauline (Begley) Alsip. His mother survives, residing in Ledbetter, KY. His father and one son, Chris "Ace" Alsip are deceased. Mr. Alsip was currently employed by Ameritech for 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He was a member of College Church of the Nazarene. Also surviving are three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Bobby and Stacey Alsip of Bradley, Jon and Cindy Alsip of Travelers Rest, SC, and Jeff Alsip of Kankankee; one sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Michael Haberkorn of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Devon and Matthew; two nieces, Joy and Michelle; one nephew, Darin; and a special friend, Kathy Sage. He was a member of IBEW Local 21, and liked motorcycles, horses, books and trains.
