Birth: Mar. 19, 1858
Knox County
Illinois, USA
Death: May 7, 1922
Merrick County
Nebraska, USA

Albert John Ferris was born near Galesburg, Ilinois, March 19, 1858 and died at his home in Palmer, May 7, 1922, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 18 days.

At the age of 17 he was converted and later united with the M. E. Church.

In the year 1882 he moved to Nebraska and settled on a farm near Central City.

He was united in marriage September 9, 1885, to Elizabeth P. Davis, to which union were born seven children, all of whom are living: Mrs. Ira Scarborough of Comstock, Mrs. Lisle Colborn of Palmer, Mrs. Roy S. Hudnall of Boelus, Ralph, also of Boelus, and Willard, Lynn and Bertie, all of Palmer.

These together with his wife and two sisters, Mrs. B. F. Snyder of Golden, Colorado, and Mrs. Jasper Fulkerson of fredricktown, Missouri, remain to mourn his departure.

The first sixteen years of his married life were spent in Nebraska. In the fall of 1901 the family moved to Wheatland, Wyoming, and lived there until the spring of 1911, when they returned to Nebraska and lived on a farm in Gage Valley for three years. The last eight years of the life of the deceased has been spent in this town.

It is difficult to pay a fitting tribute to the memory of such a man. His Christianity and integrity were unquestioned and he did his best to be on the right side of every question, regardless of consequences.

No bronze or marble shaft is needed to keep alive the memory of such men. Their lives, their deeds, their influence are the monuments that will keep their names bright in the hearts and minds of kindred and friends, while the flying moments are dimming with dust and rust the inscription upon the brightest obelisk in the cemetery.
