Army Air Corp. in WWII with the 448 Heavy Bombardment Group, Eight Army Air Force, as a Tail Gunner on the B 24 Liberator Bomber, The Air Field was located in Seething, England where he flew on 31 bombing missions in occupied Germany Territory.

David O. Anthony, aged 74, of 3412 North Gale ave, died at 9;05 am. Sunday, November 29, 1992, at his residence, born December 25, 1917, in Peoria, Illinois to David O. and Edith (Hardesty) Anthony, he married Ruth E. Collins, on 4 July 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, she survives, also are one daughter, Margaret A. Couch, of Peoria, two sisters, Thelma Grafelman, of East Peoria, and Laura Blackaby of Pekin, and one grandson, one son, and three sisters, preceded him in death. He was a Processing Engineer for Caterpillar Inc, retiring in 1980, a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran, he was a member of the second Air Division association. Services will be held Wednesday at 1 pm. at Wilton Mortuary, The Rev. James Sandy. will officiate, Visitation will be from. 6-8 Tuesday at the Mortuary, burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.

Flew 30 missions as a tail gunner. Worst mission: Low level dropping supplies to paratroops at crossing the Rhine losing our wingmen and Buchen Germany where five of nine ships were lost to ME 262 and 163 Jets."
