Funeral services for Virginia Wray Austin, 81, Caruthrsville were held Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998 at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville. Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville. Rev. Steve Turner officiated. Mrs. Austin died Oct. 13 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Austin, the daughter of the late John Riley Hall and Sarah Scribner Hall, was born on February 9, 1917 in West Plains, Mo.
She was married to James Renfroe Goss on August 5, 1933 in West Plains. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1975. On December 6, 1984 she was married to James Louis Austin. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1991. She was a member of the Kinfolks Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by: two sons, Harlan Goss and Donnie Goss, both of Caruthersville; one daughter, Laura Houston, also of Caruthersville; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by many nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
