Mary Elvila Huls
Mrs. Mary Elvila HULS, 71, a resident of the Soldier's home in Lafayette for the past two years, died at 6 a.m. today in St. Elizabeth's hospital in Lafayette. She had fallen three weeks ago and fractured a hip and wrist. She was recovering from surgery.
She was born July 14, 1897, in Fulton county, the daughter of Henderson "Polk" and Anna May GUNNETT STARNER. Her marriage was Dec. 24, 1913, in Talma, to Paul A. HULS.
He died Aug. 17, 1964. She lived on U.S. 31 near the Tippecanoe river from 1939 until 1964, moving from Indianapolis.
Surviving are one son, Paul Devane HULS, Martinsville; two grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Eva) SMITH, Rochester, and Mrs. Fred (Minnie) LOGAN, Holt, Mich. and nieces and nephews.
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The Rev. C. J. MOWRER will officiate. Burial will be in the Reichter cemetery near Talma. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
