James Houston Bartlett, retired carpenter of 281 N. Waldran, Memphis, died Thursday, June 28 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frances Jacoby, 196 N. McNeill, where he was recuperating from an operation. He was 74.
Mr. Bartlett, was born near Winona, Miss., and moved to Memphis from Charleston, Miss., 34 years ago. He was a member of First Baptist Church and of Park Avenue Masonic Lodge No. 362.
His wife died two months ago.
He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Jacoby and Mrs. Mae Tyus of Memphis and Mrs. Elizabeth Wright of Little Rock; his son, James L. Bartlett of Vallejo, Cal. and four grandchildren, Frank Tyus, Jr., and Carolyn Jacoby of Memphis, James L. Bartlett, Jr., of Lindsay, Cal., and J. Wendell Wright of Little Rock.
Services were held June 29th at the National Funeral Home with burial in Memorial Park, Memphis.
