Arthur Earl Austin, aged 78, of Murfreesboro died in Pike County Hospital November 11.

He was born in Pike County, October 23, 1903, the son of Charles N. Austin and Mary young Austin.

He was a retired sawmill employee having worked for Dierks Lumber Company and Weyhaeuser for 23 years as a green sorter ad in the Kiln area.

He was a mason and a member of the Mount Joy Freewill Baptist Church at Daisy.

Survivors include: three daughters, Edith Davis of Newhope, Wanda June Davis and Bertha Sue Bowen of Kerman, California; Three sisters, Myrtle Gutkowski of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Iva Richburg of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Doyce Butler of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday, November 12 in the Mount Joy Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Garner officiating.

Buffalo Gap Masonic Lodge was in charge of graveside services.

Burial was in Mount Joy Cemetery by Davis Funeral Home.
