Apr. 19, 1938 - Mar. 25, 2009

SALEM- Shirley was born in Woodburn, Oregon. She was the fifth child of Cecil and Mabel Wyatt's eight children. She grew up in the Lake Labish area and graduated from Silverton High School in 1960 through night courses. She married KENNETH BYRON KIMSEY on her 16th birthday on April 19, 1954 at the North Howell Church in Silverton, Oregon. This year wold have been Shirley and Kenneth's 55th Wedding Anniversary. We had planned to have a celebration after she had come home from the hospital.

She lived in numerous locations throughout the U.S. during her husband's 20 year service in the Navy. After her husband's retirement from the Navy both resided mainly in Silverton, Portland and Salem, Oregon areas. She worked civil service, BPA and DHS. She retird from both BPA in 1994 and then DHS in 2003.

Shirley loved her family very much. Her main concern was her family. She was a hero to her children, since she tried to be there for them even though she worked a lot. Once she had retired she endured many medical problems resulting in being on dialysis for four years and heart problems. She fought very hard to stay with us until she left us recently to be with her parents Wednesday. She talked about them often.

Shirley and Ken had four children, Sherry Bennett-Roberts of Salem, Kenny (Bryon) of Salem, Jerry of White City, Oregon, and Laurie Kimsey of Salem. She was survived by her husband, Kenneth Kimsey of Salem, Oregon; her children; 6 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren; her siblings; Albert Wyatt in Fayetteville, N.C., Joyce Parks of Salem, Eva Seilers of Florence, Margaret Aberle of Ga. and Cathy Wyatt of Portland.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton, followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:30 p.m. at Almost Home Restaurant, 3310 March St. NE. in Salem. Private interment at Willamette National Cemetery.
