Regret to inform that John (Jack) Allman has passed away due to complication caused by Parkinson's disease while living at Life Care in Port Orchard. Bernard Zach Allman was born May 10, 1923 in Long Beach, Calif. to Earl and Mary McCullough. Mary died in June 1924 and Bernard was adopted by Horace King and Anna Allman June 20, 1924 in Cascade, Idaho. His adoptive parents named him John Bernard. He was known as Jack to friends and family. Jack spent his childhood in Meadowbrook. He graduated from Snoqualmie High School in 1941 and then pursued a business degree from Washington State College. His higher education was interrupted by a stint in the Army. After boot camp he was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. where he repaired infantry equipment sent back from the war. Jack was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946. Shortly thereafter he met and became engaged to Florence Vivian Wegner of Oakes, N.D. They were married in Snoqualmie June 14, 1947. Jack returned to Washington State University to continue to pursue his business degree for two more years. Jack and Viv purchased their first home in Aberdeen. Jack owned a Flying A gas station on the main drag in Aberdeen while Viv taught elementary school in Montesano. Jack then worked as an accountant at ITT Rayonier from 1953 until his retirement in 1979. Jack and Viv raised their two sons, James and Fred in Aberdeen. A small farm in Elma was the retirement choice for Jack and Viv. They worked the farm in summer and spent their winters in Hemet, Calif. They eventually sold the farm and moved to Christmas Village in Shelton. Viv died in 1996 and Jack eventually moved to the Bay Pointe assisted living to be closer to his sons. Jack enjoyed square dancing, gardening and making toys and gadgets in his shop. He is survived by his sons, Jamie and Fred (Patricia), granddaughters Talia and Katie and several great grandchildren. Internment will be at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle. No other services are planned at this time.
