Funeral services were held Dec. 28 in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. She was born in the Flint Creek Community to Joe T. and Turpsy L. (Walker) Taylor. Her parents bought a farm in Wheeler County and it was there that she graduated from high school as salutatorian of her class in 1927. She worked after graduation at Woffords Mercantile Store in Mobeetie and met and married J.G. "Jake" Baird on Jan. 17, 1931. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1999. In 1934, they bought a store building in Flint Creek Community, opening Jake's Station and Grocery.

Survivors include two sons, James Baird and wife Patsy of Big Spring and Jerry Baird and wife Mickey of Snyder; two daughters, Juanell Howard and husband Phillip of Schulenburg and JoAnn McQueen and husband Bobby of Graham; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Taylor; a grandchild, Sherrie Baird; and one great-grandchild, Cody.
