Dolores Carlee Vaughan Akins, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Broadway Baptist Church and a reception in Fellowship Hall.
Dolores was born Sept. 20, 1931 in Hubbard. She was a graduate of Texas Christian University and University of North Texas where she earned her Ph.D. in Spanish. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and served as president of Alpha State. A registered parliamentarian, she was a past president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the National Parliamentarian Association.
Dolores taught Spanish in the Birdville and Hurst Euless Bedford school districts and was professor emeritus at Tarrant County College. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church, where she was active in the Companion Class.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Noma Vaughan.
Survivors: Husband, Kenneth Lee Akins; children, Allan Akins and his wife, Kelly, and Jane Annette Kipgen and her husband, Paul; grandchildren, Katie Kipgen Randermann and her husband, Justin, Chris Kipgen, Brian Akins and Emily Akins; great-grandchildren, Stephen and Madelyn Randermann; sister, Betty Campbell and her husband, Dr. A.D. Campbell; and aunt, Opal Littlejohn.
