Leah parents were J.R. Couts and Martha Hardin of Parker county, TX. J R. COUTS, was president of the Citizen's National Bank of Weatherford, and probably the wealthiest man in Parker county, was born in Robinson county, Tennessee, April 6, 1833. In addition to his banking interests Mr. Couts owned about twenty-four thousand acres of land in Parker and adjoining counties, most of it under fence and fronting on the Brazos river.
Leah siblings were:
*Henry Johnson -died at the age of 3 years.
*Jonathan Hardin - died at the age of 2 years.
*James S. - died at the age of 1 year.
All three boys died in 1856 within a few weeks of each other from typhoid fever.
*Mary, wife of Samuel Burk Burnett owner of the Four Sixes ranch, banker, oilman, of Fort Worth;
*Susan, wife of A. N. Grant, cashier of the Citizens' National Bank of Weatherford;
*Martha, wife of Rev. Putnam, of Brownwood, Texas;
*J. R., Jr., of Weatherford;
*Maggie (Mrs. H. L. Mosely).
Leah married William P. Anderson on Nov. 11, 1893, in Parker county, TX.
William Pinckey Anderson was the son of James Monrow Anderson. James Monroe graduated from Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1848. William P. mother was Winifred "Minnie" Polk the daughter of Andrew and Martha Baxter Polk, who are buried in Leon county TX. Her grandfather was Charles Polk(b.1760), a revolutionary war soldier buried in San Augustine county TX. Winifred Polk married James Monroe Anderson, a prominent lawyer in Cherokee county TX, on Nov. 26, 1851. They eventually moved to Waco, TX.
According to the 1900 census, W.P Anderson was an attorney-of-law. Leah and William P. Anderson had the following children. Living in Palo Pinto county TX.
* W. Couts Anderson - b.01/01/1893 d. 12/22/1955; buried in Parker county, TX
* Susie(Suzanne)Couts Anderson - b. 27 Dec 1895, d.23 Oct 1960, buried in the Oakland Cemetery - married Lloyd Eugene Hutcheson b. 27 Nov 1893, Springtown, Parker County, TX. He died 14 Sept. 1967.
* William P. Anderson - b. Dec 1898
Mrs. W.P.(Leah) Anderson, was elected chairman of the The Music and Art Department of the XXth Century Club which was organized Thursday, March 12, 1903.
Leah is on the 1920 census as the sister -in-law, living with Acie N. Grant and sister Susan C Grant in Weatherford Ward 3, Parker county, TX.
