Minerva Ann, known as Minervie, daughter of Alexander P. Hayes and Mary Brown [née Strong] Hayes, married John B. Hayes, a son of James and Sarah Hays, on December 28th 1876, with Rev. J. B. Muse officiating, pastor of Prosperity A.R.P. Church.

There were two known children born to Minerva and J. B. Hays:
Carra C. Hays (1878 – 1903)
James Alexander "Elgie" Hays (1880 – 1951)

Mrs. Minerva A. Hays died of tuberculosis at Molino on Thursday, August 16, 1906, aged 52 years, 1 month, and 9 days. She was married December 28, 1876 to John B. Hays. She was a devoted member of the Chirstian Church. The funeral was conducted by Elder T. C Little, burial at Prosperity.
