Harold H. Holcomb, 94, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Harrington Assisted Living Center. Officiating will be Alan Williamson, Chaplain of Park Central and Lance Herrington. Private family burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell, Amarillo, Texas.
Mr. Holcomb was born February 8, 1912, in Panhandle, Texas, to Ethel Leah Hendrix Holcomb and James Johnston Holcomb.
Both Harold and his wife, Jean, graduated from Panhandle High School. Harold attended John Tarleton College in Stephenville, Texas.
He married Jean Williams on June 28, 1931, in Guthrie, Okla. After they married, they moved to Borger where they resided until Harold retired from J.M. Huber Corp after 41 years. They lived in Canyon and Amarillo and recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Harold was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and loved to travel, especially to his cabin in Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jean on August 11, 2006; his parents; and two brothers, Frances and Leon.
Survivors include a son, Ron Holcomb & wife Sarah of Midland; a daughter, Susan Harnish and husband, Gil of Loganville Ga.; five grandchildren, Greg Holcomb and wife, DeAnn of Plano, d'Jon Roeschke and husband, Kelly of Plano, Curt Holcomb of Dallas, Steve Harnish of Las Vegas, Nev. and Andrea Mays and husband, Josh of Sedona, Ariz.; three great-grandchildren, Spencer Holcomb, Claire and Davis Roeschke, all of Plano; several nieces and one nephew.
The family wishes to thank all the caregivers of BSA Hospice, Harrington Assisted Living and Ware Memorial for their kindness and compassion.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
