He first worked in as a Spinner in the Woolen Mill in Columbiaville, then later helped with his father's business, the Willey's Overland Automobile Dealershhip. About 1929 he moved back to the state of New York. Soon after that he married Lillian Kathryn Warren on 29 Dec 1935 in Poultney, Rutland County, VT. They had 2 children. Clinton and Lillian were later separated and Lillian raised their 2 children.
