Sarah Baker was born in 1849 and died in 1874. Her pretty stone points to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. The interestingly shaped monument has at the top a square containing chalices or urns. In Victorian funerary symbolism these represented Sarah's full, rich life. They could also stand for the rich history of the church, which closed its doors in 2001 after holding services for the people in south central Madison County for over 140 years.
