CPL Ronald Allen Beardsley was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, CPL Beardsley served our country until 31 October 1968 in Hua Nghia, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. It was reported that He was killed by an explosive device. He was born in Marin County, California, on August 10th, 1947. His body was recovered. CPL Beardsley is on Panel 40W, Line 61 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 1 year.
Area Grid Star Killed in Vietnam: PLEASANTON-An Armador High School Graduate and football player died last week of injuries received in combat in Vietnam. CPL ROnald Beardsley, 21, who graduated from Amador in 1965, died OCt 31. He had been stationed in Bea Trai, about 20 miles from Saigon and had been stationed in Vietnam since May. CPL Beardsley, son of Col. and Mrs Orville Beardsley, is the second Pleasanton youth to die in the Vietnam War. The first was Gary Meyer, who was killed in September, 1968. The Beardsleys currently are living in England, where Colonel Beardsley is stationed with the U.S. Air Force. He is expected to arrive Saturday to attend to funeral arrangements. In addition to his parents, CPL Beardsley is survived by a sister, Linda, 17, who is living with the parents, and a Brother, Richard, 24, who now lives in Pleasant Hill. Graham and Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton will handle the funeral services. Funeral services tentatively are planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday. Beardsley turned out for track and football while at Armador High. He won a Medal in the shot put and set a North Coast Section Class B Record. He played football for two years., one year as a halfback on the Varsity according to the school's Coach, Jerry Wilfley. After Graduating from Armador, Beardsley also attended Napa Junior College and also played football there.
