Funeral For Owen Ellis To Be Wednesday

The body of Cpl. Owen K. Ellis, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Ellis of Sullivan, who was killed in action March 14, 1945 in France, will arrive in Sullivan Monday at 1:44 p. m. Escort will be Cpl. Donald Steinhoff. Ellis entered the Army January 17, 1944 and was sent overseas June 1944. He was wounded in August of the same year. Ellis was a member of the 39th Infantry, 9th Division, Co. G, 1st Army.
He is survived by two small sons, David Kenneth Ellis and Stephen Owen Ellis, both of Covington, Indiana; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Ellis of Sullivan; two brothers, Robert Ellis of Sullivan, R. 5 and Joe Ellis, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Gretchen Robinson of Sullivan, Mrs. Gwendolyne Rusk of Sullivan and Mrs. Carmen Schroader of Lincoln, Michigan.
The body will be taken to the Billman Funeral Home where it will lie in state. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Jack Anderson, pastor of the Sullivan First Christian Church, will officiate. The Sullivan American Legion Post No. 139 will be in charge of the grave services. Burial will be made in Center Ridge Cemetery.
