Gertrude (given name is Agnes Gertrude) was the fourth child (to survive to adulthood) of Walter Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Morf) Alden. She was born in Iowa or Washington.
Agnes attended school until at least age 14 and in her early 20's she worked as a stenographer for the railroad, where she was issued a Social Security Number. In 1936 she was living in Seattle and in 1949 she was living in Tacoma, by 1957 she had returned to Seattle.
At the time of her death she lived at 1105 Spring Street in Seattle (today an apartment complex stands here, unsure of her dwelling). She was survived by her brother Walter J. Alden and her niece Mrs. John Starosky. Rosary was held Tuesday, April 18th 7pm at Manning and Sons Mortuary. Requiem mass was said Wednesday, April 19th 11:15am at St. Joseph's Church and burial followed.
