Edward Henry Honeycutt was the son of William Honeycutt and Martha Elizabeth (Patsy) Smith Honeycutt. His parents were murdered in July 1848 in Autauga County, AL, when Edward was 13 years old. In 1850 he was living with his brother Thomas R. Honeycutt in Autauga County, AL.
He married Mary M. Gandy on 19 October 1854 in Bibb County, AL. By 1860 they had moved to Lauderdale County, MS where his sister Palley O. was living with her husband George Washington Price.
Henry (as he was called) and Mary had 4 children:
Zacharias W., Gracey, Edward H. and William L.Honeycutt.
Zacharias W. was the only child who lived to adulthood.
Henry served in the CSA in the Civil War. His company was designated Capt. P. H. Bozeman's Company, 13th Regt., Miss
Volunteers. This organization was called into the service of the Confederate States of America, joined for duty May 13, 1861 at Corinth, Miss. and was later known as Capt. H. D. Cameron's Company.
E. H. Honeycutt was promoted to Sergeant. He was present at the following engagements: Leesburg Oct 21 and 22, 1861. Sharpsburg, MD, Fredericksburg Dec. 11 1862 and May 3, 1863. Present at Gettysburg, Pa, Chickamauga, Tenn., Chattahooga, Tenn, Knoxville, Tenn. Spottsylvania Court House, May 8, 11 and 12, 1964, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Charlestown, Va. At the battles of Berryvillle, Va and Rockfish Gap, Va, he was absent on detail. His name appears on a roll of Prisoners of War when the Confederate States Army commanded by Lieut. Gen. R. Taylor surrendered at Citronelle, AL to Maj. Gen. E. R. S. Canby, USA, on May 4, 1865 and was paroled at Meridian, Miss on May 17, 1865.

He filed for Confederate Pension Application in Lauderdale County, MS on
18 July 1905.

Collar bone broken, also arm. Lives with J. B. M. Collier, has 1 son, 1 sister.
Pension granted: 4 Sept 1905.
Certified; B. V. White, Clk. W. R. Pistole, D. C., W. F. Brown, Pres. Board, J. L. McWilliams, D. S. Lacy, R. M. Camp.
He has a Confederate marker at Kewanee Baptist Church Cemetery. It has no dates on it. His wife Mary M. Honeycutt died 24 Nov 1908 and Henry was still living at that time.
