In Memoriam: "Uncle" Sam Burnett died October 15, 1902, age 74 years. He was born near Abbeville, South Carolina in 1828. He moved from there to Georgia where he lived six years. He came to Mississippi in 1851. He was a veteran of the Civil War. In 1866 he was married to Miss Mary Wilkinson. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
