DORIS MILAM
Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Bartholomew Milam, 46 of Marceline, were held Dec. 16 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Milam died Dec. 14 of what was determined a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the left chest.
Doris Jewell Levell was born in Chariton County on May 4, 1923 to Everett W. and Ruby (McConnell) Levell. On Dec. 13, 1941 she was married to Elmer Bartholomew. They had two children. Mr. Bartholomew died Sept. 17, 1958. Her father also preceded her in death.
On Aug. 13, 1961 she married Vern Milam of Marceline, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Neil Bartholomew of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Waldron of Des Moines, Iowa; her mother, Mrs. Ruby Levell of Marceline; four brothers, Donald Levell of Marceline, Fenton Levell of Caliente, Nevada; John W. Levell of Bucklin; and Everett Levell, Jr. of Long Island, New York.
Mrs. Milam was a graduate of Marceline High School in 1940.
She became a member of the First Baptist Church at an early age, later transferring membership to the United Methodist Church.
