KIN OF LOCAL RESIDENTS ELECTROCUTED NEAR SEMINOLE
Vernon Douglas Talbutt, 23 year old apprentice electrician with Southwestern Public Service Co., was electrocuted about 9 a.m. Thursday, (May 5, 1966) nine miles northwest of Seminole.
Other members of a crew that was moving pipe said the A-frame of a truck being used to move the pipe came in contact with an electric line of a rural electric cooperative.
Funeral Services for Talbutt were held at 2:30 p.m.Saturday in the First United Methodist Church, Earth, with Albert Lindley, pastor, officiating, assisted by M.B. Baldwin, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Earth. Burial was in the Earth Cemetery under the direction of Parsons Funeral Home of Olton.*Note Born Janurary 4, 1943, in Marysville, Calif. Talbutt was a 1960 graduate of Amarillo High School and attended Texas Tech two years. He was married to Dorothea June Propes Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Taylor on May 29, 1964, in Earth. He had recently moved to Seminole from Stinett with the Southwestern Public Service crew. Talbutt had been a member of the Methodist Church for the past two years. Survivors include his wife; his parents Mr. and Mrs. D.E. Talbutt, formerly of Amarillo now residing in California. a sister, Mrs. Harold Butler of Amarillo; and his grandparents, Mrs. Effie Lamons of San Antonio and Mr.and Mrs. J.D. Campbell of Oklahoma City, Okla. Pallbearers were Larry Evans, Bill Rayburn, Nickie Brazell, George Koosee, V.E. Mickie, Jim Withespoon, Bill Paschal, and David Robinson.

At the time of his death His wife June was seven months pregnant at the time with their first child.
He was originally buried in the Shelby plot at Earth Memorial Cemetery, Earth, Lamb, TX. After his father's death in 1981 his body was moved and he was buried beside his father in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Potter, TX. This was done at his mother's request and it was what he and his father would have wanted.

June and Doug were so perfect for each other, it has been said their marriage was like a marriage made in heaven.

At least you met your love and fathered a child. I am sorry that you did not get to see your family grow. Watch over your daughter like I'm sure you always have. Rest in peace Doug.
