The daughter of Albert H. and Lucy Foster. She married Daniel Sparks Baughman.

She was educated in Ohio schools and received her B. A. degree from Valpariso University, Valpariso, Indiana, where she met her husband. She taught school in Ohio and Utah. She was a clerk in the U. S. Census Bureau in Washington, D. C. in 1910. She studied art at the Corcoran Gallery.

She participated in the Woman's Suffrage Movement and marched in the procession in Washington DC, March 3, 1913. She wrote about it in the booklet, "The Day 'Those Creatures' Shook a City", which was published in 1963 on the 50th anniversary of the parade.

Mrs. Baughman was survived by these children: Shirley Foster Baughman (Mrs. Patrick) O'Leary of Hyattsville, MD; Dr. Richard Curtis Baughman of Austin, TX; Thomas Patrick Baughman of Austin, TX; Mary Lou Baughman (Mrs. Richard) Lillard of Woodbridge, Conn., Nancy Jane Baughman (Mrs. Harold) Phelps of Pullman, WA; one sister, Lulu Disbennett of Johnstown, Ohio; and 19 grandchildren: Mary O'Leary Corbitt, West Palm Beach, FL; Margaret Louise and Kathryn Danielle O'Leary, Hyattsville; Krystal Ann Baughman, Gannaway; Cynthia Sue and Kathleen Baughman, Santa Barbara, CA; Kurt Baughman, Gillette; Daniel Mumford Baughman, Mary Camille and Elizabeth Renee Baughman, Austin; Daniel Baughman Lillard, Melanie Frances and Rebecca Jane Lillard, Woodbridge; Nancy Carolyn, Vicki Sue, Sandra, Judy, Michael Daniel and Jeffrey Leroy Phelps, Pullman, and one great grandchild, Mary Suzanne Corbitt.

Her oldest son, Lieutenant Commander Daniel Sparks Baughman, Jr., was lost at sea January 1945 off the coast of Okinawa with the loss of the U. S. Submarine Swordfish. http://mva.sd.gov/sdwwiimemorial/SubPages/profiles/Display.asp?P=123
