Escondido resident and frequent Tuolumne County visitor Ronald Edwin Colpron, 82, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 at his home.
He was born on Saturday, May 31, 1930 in Lead, S.D., at the Homestake Goldmine Hospital to Ismael and Frieda Colpron.
Ronald was raised in Warren, Minn., and lived in Escondido for 31 years. He spent a portion of each year in the Tuolumne area with his daughter, Jenny David, of Columbia.
He graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor's degree in business in 1952 and was a 1st lieutenant in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1957.
Ronald spent two years in Germany and served as a photo reconnaissance officer in the 38th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron.
He worked for Burroughs Corporation for 35 years and retired as a regional manager overseeing sales in California, Nevada and Hawaii.
Ronald attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Escondido and wrote a memoir titled, "Yes, I've Been Blessed!" in 2005.
Mr. Colporn is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Colpron, of Escondido; his children and their spouses, Linda and Keith Buck, of San Dimas, and Jenny and Bill David, of Columbia; siblings, Merlin Colpron, of Idaho, Colleen Sverdrup, of Washington, Milton Colpron, of Washington, and Patty Walker, of Idaho; grandchildren, Natalie Buck, of Anaheim, Aaron and Michael David, of Columbia, and Ryan Buck and his wife, Stacy, of San Diego; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frieda Colporn in 1991 and his father, Ismael Colporn in 1992.
