Retired paper mill, roll grinder. Elmer Richard Coates, 71 2808 Cypress St. Longview , WA. died Aug. 25, 1982, in a local hospital. He was born July 18,1911, at Cassian ,Wis.
Elmer came to the area in 1956 from Rhineland,Wis., and worked for R-W PAPER Co. He was a member of the Western Pulp & Paper Workers Union No 680. Elmer Celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on May 23.
Survivors included his wife Mary Coates, at home, three sons Donald W. Coates of Renton, Richard J. Coates of SanDiego. Mike J. Coates of Longview.; three sisters , Beulah Mikkleson of Rhinelander Wis. , Edna Hampton of Sacramento,Cal., And Vera Blue of White Salmon. Two Brothers , James Coates of Olympia, and Jack Coates Now living in Florida. Seven grand children. Many great grand children, nieces and nephews.
