PFC David Culp Jr, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Pineville, North Carolina.
Private First Class David Culp Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Culp served our country until March 30th, 1968 in Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that David died from multiple fragmentation wounds from a mine. His body was recovered. PFC Culp is on panel 47E, line 009 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.
David was one outstanding infantry rifleman. While maneuvering with the point platoon for A/3/8, he lost his life almost instantly in an NVA ambush on the afternoon of March 30, 1968. Those in his platoon will never forget him. God Speed David. Ralph Haun.
