Funeral services for Ruth M. Grover (nee Maughan), 86, a resident of Evanston for 48 years, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2035 N. Windsor Drive, Arlington Heights.
Born June 2, 1913, in Price, Utah, she died peacefully, Saturday, April 1, 2000, at the home of her granddaughter, Wendy, in Bolingbrook. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie.
Ruth was a much-loved and respected member of her community, where she was a past president of the College Hill PTA, the Education Board of the Northwestern University Settlement, the Northwestern Alumnae, and the Women's Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was also a former secretary of the Northwestern University Alumni Association as well as a recipient of their Service Award, a member of the John Evans Club, and a founding member of the Evanston Historical Society Guild. In addition, she had served as a volunteer for 20 years at Evanston Hospital.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy G. (Larry) Collingwood and Linda S. Grover; grandchildren, Wendy (John) Schuman, Bradley (Denise) Collingwood, Robert (Suzanne) Collingwood, Daniel (Deborah) Collingwood, Jennifer (Mark) Reece and Bonnie Goodenough; and great-grandchildren, Justin Schuman, Cara Schuman, Cody Collingwood, Breanna Reece, Oliva Collingwood, Cameron Collingwood and Hannah Collingwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Floyd E. Grover, and great-granddaughter, Sydney Michelle Collingwood.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.
