Birth: 1850
Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen), Germany
Death: Jul., 1852
Kankakee County
Illinois, USA

Born in Idensen, Old Kingdom of Hanover, the fourth child of Ernst Heinrich Conrad Christoph Brandt and Katharine Marie Dorothee Freise, she immigrated with her parents and two siblings on the ship Rastede to New York on June 8, 1952. The family immediately proceeded to Kankakee Co. IL where the Freise family had purchased land.

As sometimes occurred with very young children, there is no record of her on the ship passenger list. For unknown reasons the family began spelling their name BRAND in America.

Within two months of arriving she succumed to the cholera epidemic followed very shortly by an uncle and her father. This disaster confused family records. Assumption is her father buried the child, but she may be buried in his grave which is in this cemetery nearby their farm home. Her actual grave has not been found.

Her mother, a sister and a brother survived. Her mother, who married E. Christoph Kukuck, appears in records as M. Dorothea Kukuck.
