SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN

George Gordon Beckwith was the son of John P. and Anna or Kate (Eberhardt) Beckwith. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. He stood five foot five inches tall and had a dark complexion. His occupation was Druggist.

MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted July 6, 1898 at Chicago, Illinois as Private. Assigned to Battery "E", 6th U.S. Artillery. Discharged on January 19, 1899 as Private. His discharge was under George Beckwith while his pension certificate #1278447 gives George G. Beckwith.

He married June 6, 1904 at Joilett, Illinois. This wife, unnamed, divorced on June 20, 1930. On November 4, 1931 at Bremerton, Washington, he married Cora A. (Orr) Wood.

On August 15, 1934, at the age of 57 years, he applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' home. He indicated he had been a resident of Washington since 1910. His two children were Mrs. Francis (Kay) Mathews, 29, of Seattle and Jeanette Beckwith, 19, of Seattle.
Mr. Beckwith died aged 60 years on July 3, 1941 at Concrete, Washington. He was buried in the Home Cemetery.
