Katherine Wells Freeman Anderson, 97, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Paris Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Starrett Funeral Home is to conduct graveside rites at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, in Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Tim Reger officiating.

She was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Paris, a daughter of William Thomas and Eva Beckham Wells. She was a graduate of Paris High School, was formerly employed by Saint Joseph's Hospital and Nahas Industries, and then retired as a supervisor at Hollywood Vassarette. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, the former Saint Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and the Shiloh Women's Club.

She married Oscar Buford Freeman July 4, 1931, in Paris and he passed away in 1977. She later married Elbert Anderson Nov. 19, 1984, who also preceded her in death.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Anderson; a grandson, Thomas Gregory Wilson; and by three brothers, J.C. Wells, Billy Wells and Marvin Wells.

Survivors include two sons, Bennie Lee Freeman and wife, Joyce, of Paris, Arthur Buford "Buddy" Freeman and wife, Nancy, of Panama; three daughters, Huetta Bickel and husband, Lou, of Ivanhoe, Ginny Turner and husband, Michael, of Dallas, and Colleen Slaton and husband, Mervin, of Deport; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; five stepchildren and their extended families; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
