Benjamin F. Dumond was born on April 7, 1845. He never married and, after the death of his father, he and his mother, along with one or more of his siblings, made several moves in the next three decades. From Belmond, they moved to Jasper County, Missouri; from Missouri to Harper County, Kansas; and from Kansas to Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Benjamin died at the home of his sister, Harriet Dumond Barr, in Windfield, Cowley County, Kansas, on February 9, 1900, 20 months after the death of his mother.
