Deanna Jo (Curtis) Nagle, 74, a resident of Lewiston, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
She was born June 3, 1938, at Eau Claire, Wis., to Dean and Muriel (Carlson) Curtis. The family moved to Spokane, where Deanna attended her schooling from the first to third grade. The family then moved to Potlatch, where she finished her schooling.
On July 2, 1954, Deanna married Jerry A. Nagle at Potlatch, and the couple made their home at Potlatch in the Deep Creek area. Her husband, Jerry, was employed by Potlatch Forests Inc. in Potlatch until it closed and the couple moved to Coeur d'Alene for five years. In 1989, the couple moved to Lewiston, where they have made their home since.
Deanna was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Mary's Catholic Church Altar Society when they lived at Potlatch. She also was a leader for the FMBE 4-H Club for many years, and a member of the Silver Spurs Saddle Club and Pinochle Club.
Deanna enjoyed camping with family and friends, attending draft horse shows and going to the grandkids' sporting events. The couple enjoyed traveling for many years in the Western states, Canada, Alaska, Colorado and Arizona. Deanna and her mother, Muriel, and sisters went on a trip every year and played many games of pinochle. She enjoyed reading and crocheting Christmas ornaments every year for her family. She also made afghans for new babies, marriages and grandkids. She also collected cowboy Santas, and was a big collector of old colonial open-lace dishes and Victorian Collectable mini shoes.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Jerry Nagle, Lewiston; four sons, Bill Nagle (Sandy), Rathdrum, Idaho, Michael Nagle (Roxanna), Potlatch, Pat Nagle (Val), Princeton, and Tom Nagle (Sarah), Uniontown; three daughters, Debby Hamburg (Roger), St. Maries, Idaho, Christy Griswold (Mike), Potlatch, and Sandy Wessling (Scott), Rathdrum; her mother, Muriel Thompson, Potlatch; two sisters, Patti Walters (Gene), Potlatch, and Vicki Rumfelt, Anchorage, Alaska; and a brother-in-law, Theron Burgess, of Middleton, Idaho. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dean Curtis; one sister, Cheryl Burgess; and a son-in-law, Filo (Mac) Reynolds.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Potlatch. Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's. A family urn burial will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral Mass at the Freeze Cemetery. Father Caleb Vogel will officiate the services.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice. Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, is handling the arrangements.
