∼William Conway was born ca 1760, served in the Rev. War, refused to take a pension because he thought it more important to get the Indians out, so I suspect he was in the Removal of Indians and possibly a motivating fact was his family had been massacared. His biography states he was buried in this cemetery, wrapped in his army blanket as a shroud. His date of death is supplied by "Headstones Provided for the Deceased Union Civil War Veterans of 1879-1903" and the name of the cemetery, county and state. The contract was dated 25 Aug 1902 from the Vermont Marble Co of Proctor, Vermont, so I think he was added beacuse of the date. This man was my 4th gr. grandfather
