Marshall - Services for Jesse E. Latham, 73, resident of Old Stage Coach Road, Woodlawn, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Colonial Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home. The Rev. Roy McGrede, Pope City Baptist Church, and the Rev. Weldon Sistruck, Woodlawn Baptist church, will officiate and burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.

Latham who had been a resident of Harrison County since 1941 died Thursday at 4:40 a.m. in the Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. He was born Sept. 8, 1897, in Inverness, Mississippi. He was a farmer who retired in 1944 and had been a stock clerk for J.C. Penny (sic) Co. and an assistant brick mason. Latham received his education in the Upshur County schools, was a member of the Pope City Baptist Church, Marshall, but had lived in Gilmer before moving to Marshall.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs Myrtle Lee Latham; four sons, James D. Latham, Lake Charles, La., Clifford E. Latham, Allen (Texas), Claude E. Latham, Allen (Texas), Claude A. Latham, Louisville, Ky., and J.B. Latham, Woodlawn; one daughter, Mrs. Ophra Thelma Collins, Longview; five sisters, Mrs Willie B. Blalock, and Mrs Marvin Alford, Gilmer, Mrs J.D. Alexander, Corpus Christi, Mrs. Annie Mae Hartness, Greggton, and Mrs Beatrice Niece, Ballinger; and his step-father, G.W. Rains, Gilmer
