Mildred Lenore Brown was born in Madison County, Iowa to Roy and Allie Brown. She married Lawrence "Pat" Halleck in 1939. They had three children: Roger Roy, Richard Brown, and Bette Ann. After Pat's death, in 1970 she met and married Ray Skillbred in 1972. Mildred lived most of her life in Iowa. She and Ray spent the Winters in Arizona for warmer weather. Her last years were spent living with her daughter, Bette in Visalia, Californa. Mildred died from complications of lung cancer. It was her request that she be returned and buried in her beloved Iowa.
