S-Sgt. John Adams, Jr., son of Mr. & Mrs. John Adams, Trousdale, was killed Tuesday in a car accident near Purcell. Sgt. Adams graduated from Trousdale High School in 1942 and then went to work in Washington D. C. to work with the federal bureau of investigation until he joined the army air force in April 1943. He had been overseas for several months, serving as a gunner on a B-24 with the 15th air force in Italy. He completed 50 missions before he was given a furlough to come back to the United States. While in Europe, Sergeant Adams won the Air medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Good conduct medal and two bronze stars.

AMM 1/c James D. Blanton and S Sgt. John Adams, Jr. were victims of an automobile accident when their auto in which they were riding overturned. James Blanton, aged 23, died a Norman hospital late Tuesday and Adams died Wednesday in a Purcell hospital. They were returning to Trousdale in a borrowed car when a tire apparently blew out and caused the car to overturn.
