Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Clifton Guilbeau, age 90, who passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at his residence in Scott.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Charles Mallet, will officiate at the services. Readings will be by Amy Babineaux.
Musical selections will be provided by Ron Moreau, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, J'Irai La Voir Un Jour, Take My Hand Precious Lord, and The Old Rugged Cross.
Mr. Guilbeau was a native and lifelong resident of Scott. He was a retired farmer and had been a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott.
Survivors include one son, John A. Guilbeau of Scott; one grandchild, Amy Babineaux and her husband, Patrick, of Ponchatoula, LA; eight great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Melody Smith of Athens, TX and Coy Cormier and her husband, Clyde, of Cankton; one brother, Joseph Guilbeau and his wife, Verlie, of Plaquemine, LA; and two sisters, Lorena "Tee-Moon" Guillot of Carencro and Mae Arceneaux of Scott.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Benoit Guilbeau; his parents, Frank Guilbeau and mother the former Andrea Broussard; and one brother, Wilson Guilbeau.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Babineaux, Clyde Cormier, Larry Benoit, Donald Benoit, Rodney Quebedeaux, and Malcolm Arceneaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Bart Smith, John Guilbeau, and Evan Babineaux.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Ave., Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
