Requested a board of appeal to continue serving. Was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant on 14 Dec 1864 and assigned to Co. D & later Co. K, 123rd U.S. Colored Troops Infantry; serving from 05 Jan 1865 to 16 Oct 1865 when he was mustered out.
