Etta West first married Glaston Rayvon Langley Sr, Etta and Rayvon Langley Sr divorced a few years after their fourth child was born. She married second, Eddie Wilburn (Bill) Turner. They had one child together, Eddie Eugene. On the day of her death, her four oldest children were at their grandparents house having a birthday party for one of her children, Kathy. It was her 11th birthday. Etta came by the party for a few minuets and left to go home with her youngest child. Latter that afternoon the police came to inform her parents and children that she had been killed by her husband, Bill. He had shot her in the face in their front yard while she was holding their young child in her arms on Wood St. in Jackson, Ms. This happened on the 11 day of Sept. 1965. She was dead on arrival at the hospital. She had give her life to the Lord just a short time before this had happened. Bill spent seven years in prison for his crime. After he was released from prison he raised their child. The Turner name was not added to her headstone because he had taken her away from us and we didn't want the name of Turner on the stone. On the day Bill died in 2003, Patricia, Gwen, Kathy and Eddie (their child together) was at his bedside when he went to meet his maker. We had forgiven him for the crime he had committed against our mother and her children. Just remember you have to forgive in order to be forgiven.
