Husband of Mabel A. Daly who resided in Doniphan, Missouri.

James served as a Master Sergeant & Gunner on A-20 #43-21317, 89th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He was normally assigned to Headquarter's Squadron, 310th Bomber Wing, Medium, but was assigned as the pilot for the above mission.

He resided in Hennepin County, Minnesota prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 30, 1941, prior to the war, at Jefferson Barrack's, Missouri. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Manager and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married sometime after his enlistment.

A-20 #43-21317 took off, with a crew of 2 and 1 passenger, from San Jose Airdrome, Mindoro Island, Philippines on a courier mission to Manila, Philippines.

They were hit by Japanese anti-aircraft fire and crashed just outside of Fort McKinley (Fort Bonifacio), Manila.

James was "Killed In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
