Frank L. Blevins
CHRISTIAN COUNTY REPUBLICAN 25 Aug 1966
Funeral services for Pfc. Frank L. Blevins, formerly of Ozark, who was killed August 8 in a helicopter crash near Pleiky, Viet Nam were held at 1 p.m. Monday in Floral Hills Memorial Garden, Kansas City. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Blevins of Kansas City, his military services had included a year in Germany before going to Viet Nam four months ago. Military services at the graveside were conducted by an Armed Guard from Fort Leavenworth, Kan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Don; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Effie Marshall of Springfield; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Blevins of Ozark. Those attending funeral services in Kansas City Monday included Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Hannah, Cheryl, Tricia and Rick, Mr. And Mrs. Claude Blevins and Bill, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hannah and Sherry Stockstill, of Ozark; Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Young of Nixa; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hursh and Pam of Forsyth; and Mrs. and Mrs. Bennie Wigington, Jerry Wigington, Stan Blevins and Randy Hursh of Wichita, Kan.

I gave "Frankie" his first plane ride in 1962 from the Finley River bottom in Ozark. Thereafter, he developed an interest in airplanes and a love for flying.

He joined the Army in 1965. In 1966, he was attached to the 1st. Air Calvary division and sent to Vietnam. A few months later he lost his life in a mid-air collision between the helicopter he was a crew member aboard and another copter operating in the Pleibu territory known as 'The Oasis.' Frank's name can be located on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, Panel 9E-Row 110.

At family Reunions we'd all sit around and plunk guitars singing the old Gospel hymns. The selection here was one of Frank's favorites.
