Lila was the daughter of Jeremiah Jack George and Martha Jane Jolly George Scott. Delilah married William Alexander Scott (the brother of her stepfather James Emerson Burdine Scott) 16 Jan 1873 in Tyler, Smith County, Texas. Lila and William Scott had ten children: Joseph Riley Scott, John Daniel Scott, William Eads "Sam" Scott; James Albert "Abb" Scott; Mattie Mae Scott Anderson; Horace Peyton "Pate" Scott; Noma Anderson "Nome" Scott; Alex Bailey "Jack" Scott; Effie Josephine Scott Murphy; and Arley Delaney "Buck" Scott.
One of Lila's granddaughters reported the following story: "Lila was so tired of all the sickness and trouble in Van Zandt County that, when they packed up to move to Oklahoma, she shook her fist and said 'Van Zandt County, I hope a tornado comes and blows you away!' That night a tornado came--but it blew their wagons and household goods back into Van Zandt County! Be careful what you ask for--you may get it!" [Jackye Plummer 2006]
