Savannah -Mrs. Dorothy V. Best, 81, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at Hospice Savannah. She was a native of Brooklyn, NY and lived in Savannah over 19 years. She was a retired Teacher in New York City. She was a member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board and a Sunday School Teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Deacon Charles Best, Sr., and a son, Charles Best, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Doretha (William) Frazier of NY, Shelley (Lorenzo) Melendez of Savannah, GA; one son, Glenn (Karen) Best of Clearwater, FL; 13 grandchildren, including Rosalind (Fredrick) Quarterman of Savannah, GA; 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 1, 2006 at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, 820 M.L.K., Jr., Blvd., Pastor Frederick A. Fearbry, officiating.
