Lieut William Berry Ford

Birth: 1845
Death: Apr. 30, 1887

William Berry Ford was serving as 2LT. in Company D of the 8th KY Cav. when he was captured July 19, 1863 at Buffington, Ohio (CSA Genl. Morgan's Ohio raid). He would later become 1 of 600 CSA officer's that the US Government placed in a stockade in Charleston's harbor to face the artillery fire from their comrades. For all practical purposes, they were used as "human shields". Collectively, these men became better known as the "Immortal 600".
