Johnnie was born August 13, 1927, in Hale Center County, TX, to William Barney and Myrtle Gallagher Lindsey. He had been involved as a general contractor for many years, but his main calling was being a Minister of the Word of God. He established and built the Bethal Tabernacle Church in Tucumcari, NM. He had been a Merchant Marine during World War II.
Surviving Johnnie J. Lindsey is his wife, Ruby June Goen Lindsey of Tucumcari; his daughter, Candice Hutchens of Tucumcari; daughter-in-law, Tammy Lindsey of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Kevin Hutchens, Helane Brenner, Donna Bonds, Adelta Rakes, Shane Lindsey, Connie Lindsey, Cathy Cordova, Angela Starksspear, and Kenneth Lindsey; one sister, Eloise Allenberg of Tucumcari; brothers, Merle Lindsey of Alamogordo, NM, and Norman Lindsey of Mountainair, NM, along with 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, James K. "Jokey" Lindsey; by grandson, Jacson Chavez; by son-in-law, Harold Hutchens; by his parents, and by 3 brothers, Arbin, Junior, and Paul Lindsey.
Services celebrating his life will be Wednesday afternoon in the Dunn Memorial Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM with his brothers, Rev. Norman Lindsey and Rev. Merle Lindsey officiating. Pall bearers will be his loving family members.
Interment will follow in the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests for those who wish, donations may be made to the Bereavement Fund at the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari, NM.
